NBSD Software Library - Building Design
BRIEF BACKGROUND
The NBSD Software Library was created to seamlessly perform the design of building structures from the roof to the foundation, primarily in earthquake or high wind prone areas, to the highest design standards available (primarily Capacity Based Design methodology for Steel or Concrete systems).
bRIEF DESCRIPTION
Highly efficient work (as well as learning) software tools provided are fully parametric, transparent, complete, and fully documented with relevant code requirements at every step of the design process.
The software tools show all required design steps, and whether the element being designed meets or not the relevant code requirements at each step; if not, the particular failed design step is easily identified, allowing for a refined design (adjustment of design input parameters) iteration which works for the design process.
PURPOSE OF SOFTWARE
There were two primary interest in developing this software for the User:
Work Tool - to aid the user in performing the specialized work required with a minimal of effort or user input (besides the required design parameters), but leading to a very high quality and complete design.
Learning Tool - to make the information provided to the user as transparent and complete as possible, in order to minimize errors or unwanted results, and make User familiar with the entire design process and the effect of individual parameters on structural design.
suite of software tools
The suite of products, for building design, provides the following:
- ASCE 7 Wind Design Methods (05 and 10 codes);
- ASCE 7 Seismic Design Criteria and Requirements for building structures;
- AISC 341 (Seismic Design Manual) requirements for Steel buildings;
- ACI 318 requirements for Concrete buildings and foundations;
- NDS requirements for wood framed structures;
- SQUARESPACE
